SAGINAW, MI — About two years ago, brothers Mark and Thomas Bodnar took a trip from their homes near Cleveland, Ohio, to Saginaw. They came to tour two vacant buildings downtown that had been rented as subsidized apartments for many years.
As they drove past Ann Arbor on their way home, Thomas Bodnar said he remembers telling his brother that Saginaw’s downtown was ripe for a renaissance, and that they should be part of it.
“The winter has come, and now it’s springtime,” Bodnar said.
